The Steps to Cure Tinnitus

Curing Tinnitus

The irritating feeling of continually or permanently hearing a buzzing, ringing, or whining sound in your ears is an underlying characteristic of having tinnitus. This abnormality that many people experience can be a very huge setback to everyday living as it gives you the perception that something is making a very loud noise when it doesn’t really exist in reality, this is quite inconvenient if not downright miserable.

Tinnitus is usually described as a ringing noise but to some tinnitus sufferers, the noise takes form in a constant high- pitched whining, electric buzzing, hissing, humming, whistling, or, in some absurd cases, the roaring of crickets or tree frogs. As of today, the main reason why people get plagued with tinnitus hasn’t been completely figured out by doctors, it varies from case to case. Also, it has been a buzz for so long whether there is a reliable way to completely cure tinnitus.

Depending on the cause, there are many methods to reduce the loudness of the ringing and eventually lead to a tinnitus cure. If you’re under medication maintenance and you think what your taking is causing the ringing, you could either switch to another brand of the same generic medicine or choose to lower your dosage of the same medicine, or you may want to try another medication. It helps if you also avoid irritants like loud noises, nicotine, caffeine, tonic water, alcohol and various medications.   You need to avoid loud noises or learn to protect your ears with ear plugs, because this is one of the main causes of tinnitus

For some people, a great way to temporarily cure tinnitus is to cover the ringing noise with a more soothing sound. To do this, you have to wear a device called a tinnitus masker. Similar to a hearing aid, a tinnitus masker can be clipped on to the ear which it can then produce a soft and soothing sound to make the ringing noise less audible.  This is not a permanent solution, but it is a nice relief for anyone suffering with a bad case of tinnitus.

Contrary to maskers, if your tinnitus is accompanied by hearing loss, then you might as well resort to using hearing aids to further enhance your hearing. But this is not a complete method to cure tinnitus; it’s just one way of defending yourself from further damage.

Or if the ringing doesn’t stop and gets worse, you might want to resort to changing your perception in life as stress is one of the major factors that cause people to experience tinnitus. Enroll yourself in stress management therapy like relaxation, biofeedback and more exercise as they may get your organs functioning properly and your blood flowing smoothly, and even cure your case of tinnitus.

Although the most common cause of tinnitus is age- related, the chance to reduce the irritation from the ringing can be reduced or ultimately cured if you just follow the methods above. As of the moment, there are no FDA approved drugs to cure tinnitus but antidepressants, antihistamines, and anti- anxiety drugs are recommended. Alternative treatments like ginkgo biloba, zinc, magnesium and acupuncture are also worth looking into, as the method that works to remedy tinnitus will be different for everyone and it might take a combination of these methods.

One of the most effective, and also the hardest, ways to completely cure tinnitus is to never think about it. Sure it does seem irritating and depressing at first but if you just focus your mind and concentrate so that the noise will just blend in the background. But if it doesn’t work, the last resort would be to talk to your doctor and see what new modalities are available on the market.
